With songs such as “Good Night,” Damon Dotson should make a memorable performance with the audience at the Hub in Cedar Falls Saturday evening.
Born and raised in Okoboji, Dotson has been known for his musical talents since a young age. This talent is illuminated through his performances surprising his fans with a variety of covers ranging from Eminem to The Black Crowes.
Dotson would be classified in the acoustic genre but that doesn’t limit his creativity. He covers many different genres of music along with his own material on his guitar accompanied with other members of his band. The band includes a saxophone, keyboard bass and drums. Another singer was recently added.
Connecting with the audience is a main goal for most musicians. Dotson makes a point to converse with his fans at every show and include them in the performance. He combines popular songs with his own to give an assortment of material for the members in the audience. Some of his most popular songs such as “Turnaround” and “Maggie Jones” allow Dotson to show his creative talent.
Past performances for Dotson have varied from playing on the infield at the Kentucky Derby to playing on Lake Okoboji. His fame is continually growing and recently he was in a competition to play on John Mayer’s cruise ship, “Mayercraft” which has received enormous publicity and would be a huge step for his musical career. With his fanbase rising he is spreading his boundaries more and adding on to his inventiveness for his talents.
When going to a Damon Dotson show expect plenty of singing and dancing. It is a very spur-of-the-moment atmosphere and is known for having a large audience with packed crowds.
Damon will be performing along with Toast this Saturday, which also happens to be his birthday. The Hub describes Toast as a band who “fires on all cylinders while blasting through the set including: Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Stone Temple Pilots, The Strokes and much more. Plus, Toast originals are pulsing rock riffs that keep you on the dance floor.“
With Toast joining Damon Dotson, this Saturday at The Hub, it is certain to be a “Good Night”.
